Wimdu, the "Airbnb Clone" slated to close up by the end of the year....skift.com/2018/09/27/airbnb-clone-wimdu-to-close-despite-having-raised-more-than-90-million/Well that's too bad, but I signed up with Wimdu years ago and was not impressed with the results. I'm in the USA, not in Europe where they are based, so that may in large part explain the fact that over 3 years with them, I never got a single booking thru that platform. I only got two inquiries, one from someone who was inquiring about dates that were not available, and another from a couple wanting (apaprently desperately) to find a place, but I dont' allow more than 1 person in the room, so that wouldn't work. Also, something I really did NOT like about Wimdu, and which felt creepy, was that even though I used a different name for the room than the listing I had on Airbnb, somehow they had connected it to my Airbnb listing. And two other things about their business practices upset me. One was that they wouldn't allow me to use certain photos on my listing which I have used for years on Airbnb, no problem. They didn't like that I photoshopped the photos with colorful effects. And secondly, they changed something on my listing description without even asking me for permission to do so, which I think is really out of order. Goodbye Wimdu. I wish something else would go away too.
