Maybe Airbnb could provide the information about the guest with the criminal record, to each host that the guest inquires to stay with , and let the host decide? I mean this is essentially the host's job anyhow, to screen prospective renters. That becomes difficult to do on the Airbnb platform when Airbnb is providing us only their first name, not their last name.

Shapiro underlined that Airbnb was looking over its current policies, admitting that “we don’t have a system in place where we could properly evaluate each person.” He said that the idea of establishing an appeal system in cases where “someone has clearly shown evidence of rehabilitation” was “worth discussing,” and that the company had been considering such a solution.
