I can't make sense of this news story. An Airbnb guest apparently booked a home in the country of Georgia ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_(country) ) which is located north of Turkey, next to the Black Sea in Eurasia. However, somehow the address he was given was on Georgia STreet in Crystal, MN. He actually showed up at the (non Airbnb) house there in Minnesota. How in God's name could a person make a mistake like that. You'd think that for sure he would know what COUNTRY he is in! I mean how can someone think he is in the country of Georgia when he's in the Midwest, in the USA!??!? abc7.com/society/airbnb-glitch-leads-man-to-book-stay-in-wrong-country/3522751/The article on this situation says that the error occurred because the AIrbnb system "auto-corrected" the address on the listing that the host in the country of Georgia had created. There lies the big problem, and it's why "updates" and "improvements" to the Airbnb system are often garbage. In the early days of Airbnb this kind of error would not have happened. WHy? Because the system allowed you to create a listing without an address, by putting a pin on a Google Map and showing your location. Some locations in the world actually do NOT have street addresses, particularly in rural areas, and in places outside the USA. By forcing everyone into the same box, a system based on US culture, you're creating a lot of problems. GOing back to the old system where you can use a pin to show your location instead of entering an address, would solve many problems.
