The town of Rhinebeck is considering the regulation of short term rentals www.dailyfreeman.com/article/DF/20180304/NEWS/180309881Village officials have scheduled a March 15 meeting to discuss draft regulation for short-term home and room rentals. The session is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Village Hall at 76 East Market Street. “We are still in workshop mode and when we finish the workshops we’ll schedule the public hearing,” Mayor Gary Bassett said. Under draft regulations, officials seek to create distinctions between current bed and breakfast rules and those for short-term rentals for either individual rooms or entire houses. “Short-term home rentals would be in an owner-occupied single family home in which at least three and not more than five bedrooms are provided for overnight accommodation, the rates for which include lodging only and in which no public restaurant is maintained and no other commercial services are offered,” officials wrote. Short-term room rentals would have similar restrictions for rates and commercial services but “be a single or two-family dwelling in which at least one and not more than two bedrooms are provided for overnight accommodations.”
