Aloha Deorah,
I have recently received a number of inquiries stating they have read my listing and noticed I've stated it is not appropriate for Infants (0-2), as well as children under the age of 12.
My concern is that guests are able to Instant Book. They inquire regarding their child is 12.
Who am I to ask for ID, Passport, or whatever upon arrival.
I accept them at their word.
But.....Instant Bookings have more 'safety features' (supposedly for the host) if a guest arrives that a host is not comfortable with, such as a child who might reach the age of 12 in their lifetime.
I'm totally perplexed, and feel that by accepting the inquiry, all bets are off.
So, my question is, that you may not be able to answer, is why the request doesn't come through IB if they have read the rules, child is in fact over 12?
One checks out today, tiniest little, beautiful girl, immediately told her dad she loves the house due to her love of my cat. No problems, and whatever age she is, was a total pleasure, quiet, clean, happy, and all worked out wonderful, BUT, the requests keep coming in.
We've seen the evolution of Airbnb not taking a stand for hosts, but what's with this Inquiry instead of IB?
My fear is that via inquiry, host has already sorted out the details via the message thread, so BFD for me.
I have had other inquires of different sort that I informed them to either IB, or I wish them well in their search for appropriate accommodations. They chose not to IB. I went with the gut feeling on that one, as her goals were to visit airbnb's to refer HER tour guide guests to. Well, I'm already booked into 2018, and don't need her help and discounts or 'cuts' she had in mind. Therefore I declined and wrote why.
So, what's your thoughts on Inquiry vs IB when it is available, and in my opinion, the criteria has been met to do such.
If it is stated no 0-12, then why can't they instant book?
I used to feel IB was more advantageous to the hosts to guarantee the guests were as stated when they booked.
Now I'm once again clueless.
Remember, the 'Wacko' lady ended up an inquiry booking I accepted due to her not being able to IB due to her verification process which took hours to resolve and she was already on property. Three days later I asked airbnb to rehouse her, she's MIA, airbnb informed me I would have to cancel her reservation, refund her, and the re-housing would be at my expense.
WTH is going on?
any ideas?
With much appreciation for your thoughts on this.
As always, with much aloha
