Hi Joanna -- welcome! In order for your photo to be saved to your profile, after you add the photo, you need to click on the option next to the photo that says "use only the uploaded/linked" and then down below click on "save avatar changes." (Note that "use no avatar" is the default setting on all member profiles, so one needs to change that in order for the photo to show)
