We are owners of a long-term rental. Twice now I have found my property listed on Airbnb by tenants. As a result we have suffered property damage, excessive wear and tear and complaints from our neighbors as well as clogged sewers and drains.
The only way to determine whether your house is on the Airbnb website is to click on the area, give them dates of your “stay” and scroll through the pictures. Property owners should check for their property because Airbnb is ruining residential communities. There are cars parked in the streets, loud parties, the potential liability and expense. Most of us have a no-subletting clause in our leases but, according to the Apartment Owners’ Association we need to put in another clause that expressly mentions listing with Airbnb and other sites of that type is a breach of the lease agreement and cause for immediate eviction.”
