Airbnb is apparently one of several tech companies which will sign an amicus court brief over the transgender bathroom issue --

SAN FRANCISCO — Apple, Airbnb and Box plan to sign on to a friend of the court brief in support of the case of a 17-year-old transgender student in Virginia, the companies said. Several other tech firms are also expected to sign in the coming days.
"Box deeply supports upholding and protecting the rights of all people regardless of their gender identity. We strongly oppose the administration's decision to limit protections of transgender students, and we will continue to advocate for policies that provide equal treatment for everyone," said company co-founder and CEO Aaron Levie.
I think for anyone who dislikes that Airbnb has gotten too mixed up in politics, this move is likely to be the straw that broke the camel's back. This specific issue raised by Grimm has to do with schools and minors, and Airbnb doesn't allow minors to use their platform. As well, the host's homes which are Airbnb's arena, do not have restroom facilities open to the general public passing by, as schools (perhaps hotels) and other public sites do, and host's bathrooms unlike public facilities are single occupancy, accomodating only one person at a time. Everyone staying in a host's home uses the same bathroom or bathrooms.
This political issue has nothing to do with Airbnb, and I predict they will alienate a lot of people by taking this action.
I've known many people who didn't fit into standard gender boxes/roles, and somehow, they were able to use the bathroom without the government's intervention.
