These are my comprehensive house rules
Yes, I know they are long. Some hosts feel that long list of rules will put people off, or that guests won't read them all, and strive for a shorter set. That is fine except when you find, as so many do after an "incident", that the most IMPORTANT house rule was, unfortunately, the one you left out!
Feel free to post YOUR house rules here too!! We would welcome more ideas and suggestions!

To help me create a rejuvenative and pleasant atmosphere for guests, I have drawn up these house rules to ensure that guests can have a pleasant stay. Most of what follows is ommon courtesy.
House rules:
Please remove shoes when coming into the home.
(Note to forum members reading this: it's this type of shoe in particular
that has in some cases caused severe damage to hardwood floors. BEWARE!)
Please do not drag luggage up the front stairs.
Please leave things the way they are in your room: for instance, don't take pictures off walls, don't move furniture around in the room, and do not remove the duvet cover from the comforter or the mattress protector from the mattress. Also, please do not take any of my personal belongings out of my house.
No smoking or "vaping" of any substance inside or outside house, and please do not smoke on the sidewalk in front of the house. If you want to smoke, take a walk down the street.
NO
!!
No pets/animals may be brought to my home.
(Meet my backyard fowl.....)
For the better health of all, this is a fragrance/chemical free environment -- so please no perfumes/colognes, “air fresheners”, laundry soap with fragrance, fabric softeners, essential oils or incense.
(Eg I dont' want guests using this here:
THis stinks up my house. )
Due to danger of fire, please no candles orspace heaters in the house.
NO
Rooms come already furnished, so please do not bring any additional furniture. Please limit what you bring to about 3 or 4 suitcases.
Please observe the posted hours for laundry facilities.
When you are done using the kitchen, please leave no dishes or food in the sink, on counters, on the stove, etc. Kitchen hours are 6am to 10pm, you can quietly fetch snacks outside of these hours but please don't cook outside of kitchen hours.
Please store your belongings only in our designated eg labelled storage space, eg the space labeled with your room name.
Please do not consume food or beverage in the bed as this can cause damage to linens.
AFter use of the bathtub/shower and sink, please clean out hair from the drain/floor area and sink area and make sure tub/shower is basically presentable.

Common areas are cleaned once a week, and guest rooms are cleaned in between guest visits. Apart from this, guests are expected to clean common areas after use and clean their own rooms during their stay.
Longer term guests: in order to prevent the problem of stale, unpleasant odors emanating from rooms and into common spaces or other's rooms, room windows need to be opened periodically to air out the room. If stale odors become a problem, I will enter guest rooms to air out these spaces.
Rooms are single occupancy only, and guests may not bring any others into my house.
House quiet hours are 10pm to 7am, and laundry hours are 8am to 8pm. Please dont' plan to socialize in the house after 10pm.
Please always lock exterior doors when passing in/out through the doors.

Guests may not be present in my house in an intoxicated state.
No mail or packages can be received by guests at my home...please use one of the mailbox businesses in my area.
NO
Guest agrees to pay Host for damages or loss for any of Host's property damaged/lost by the Guest.
