As noted elsewhere, Airbnb is suing three cities -- San Francisco, Anaheim, and Santa Monica -- over their harsh, restrictive home sharing laws that would attempt to fine Airbnb for not helping these cities police their own residents. Very appropriately, Airbnb declines responsibility to do government law enforcement work. I am proud of Airbnb for standing up to these governments in that respect. I'm hoping that these cities amend their laws and stop attempting to coerce Airbnb into being an arm of their own law enforcement operations. It's bad enough that governments are trying to prevent people from a very reasonable business in renting out their own property -- it's unacceptable that they are trying to force Airbnb to support these harsh measures. www.mercurynews.com/2016/09/18/airbnb-fights-unfriendly-regulations-wave-lawsuits-san-francisco/
