The next question is : if a host is forced go take a guest he would wish to decline, how will he treat that guest? Often, discrimation is an expression of fear. Is it a good thing to force people to confront their fears? Once in a while, for sure, but on a daily basis?
The picture discussion makes me smile every time. Having a picture makes me accept many mire guests more quickly then in the days where cats and flowers booked. With my current experience, not needing everh dime desperately as I did a year ago, but being quite rxhausted, I'd simply decline every flower. They are all harmless but also slightely crazy and getting on your nerves. With a photo of a gentle lady, you can't say if she'll be normal or behaving like hundred years old. With a humble meadow flower, there is no doubt.
Maybe they should render the pictures in black and white? No More color bias.
As for blocking the space, that happens since many months: if you click "space not available" as the reason for refusal, it's blocked, if you do not search for the tiny button "I'll adjust calendar manually" but you can unblock it later. Reading the terms above, it's not excluded that you can't still unblock later. I don't tead it as the AI analysing what you write in your message.

Or actually not so much a question as a comment, an argument. Is this the new meaning of "welcoming" You better welcome that person you dont' want with an open heart...or else....

Aloha Helga,
I just declined a reservation yesterday from a guest who had not read the listing, stated she was 'highly allergic' to cats and needed to be rest assured that there was no cat on premises for at least two years.
All of the drop down box choices were there as before on the PC: Not appropriate for guest (children, animals, etc.) Not comfortable with the guest, and on like before.
I have always marked the 'not appropriate for the guest', as well as adding the explanation 'guest didn't read listing regarding cat on premises; guest requesting more people than listing states', etc.
I have never marked the 'property is not available', thus the obvious action to block out the date.
I've had no problem declining guests and have always followed it up with my reason that their request is not appropriate for my listing.
Just saying.
But, I cannot get past using my PC for my airbnb. I broke down and got that cell phone for the airbnb app. Good grief, I cannot figure out how to read the messages on the cell phone and have to go back to the PC to figure out what was said past the first 8 words. Therefore, I never use the app/cell phone other than to know that I've received a notification.
