See this which tells the story of the politically correct folks who issued a very long list of what halloween costumes were to be disallowed. Two faculty members, advocates of free speech, were rightly offended, and told students they could wear whatever costumes they wanted.
OFfensive halloween costumes
They were later confronted in the courtyard by a throng of students, headed up by the now-infamous "Shrieking Girl", who yelled
"It is your job to create a place of comfort and home" shrieks the girl, demanding to be safe from a halloween costume, "By sending out that email (the one where the faculty told students they could wear whatever halloween costume they wanted) that goes against your position..."
"WHy the fuck did you accept the position, why the fuck did you accept the position, you are disgusting, you are disgusting"
"It is not about creating an intellectual scene, it is about creating a home here, you are not doing that!" Shrieks the woman.
I find this whole story to be an excellent example of how ridiculous the "politically correct" movement on campuses has gotten -- students are more and more opposed to free speech -- because, you know "free speech hurts my feelings."
Dat hurt my feelings!!!
Welcome to the world, little babykins!!

THe professors who attempted to support the right of students to free speech, resigned their positions at Yale after tremendous pressure to "step down" for their support of free speech and expression.

There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part! You can't even passively take part! And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels…upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop! And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!
