Oh yes, thanks Shaun for posting that -- I had seen that recently also and posted about it on here, I think on the news board. There seems to be too little info about how this service works. In general I like the idea of a new platform, but in this case--- with one big huge glaring exception, and that is that it seems you MUST have a Facebook account to use it, and you MUST create your account through Facebook! There seems to be no other way to sign up! So I have to triple veto that. It's totally unacceptable in my mind for any company to require that you have to use any form of social media in order to use their services. That is Big Brotherish and to me constitutes a significant invasion of privacy -- other "under the radar" aspects notwithstanding.
I don't quite understand the statement that
HOw does it work if the rooms aren't listed? Are only the hosts listed, or the general location? How can guests adequately choose where to stay if they can't see and read about the listings? That is a serious concern to me. If guests can't see and read about listings until they book, that is a set up for huge problems in my mind. I don't know if I would want people who haven't specifically chosen my house with my specific environment and my house rules. I could see things going badly too often if guests aren't able to read house rules before they book.
But the point is moot, since the mandatory linking to a FaceBook account is a deal breaker for me.
