drastic drop in listing inquiries - is it just me?

Hello everyone! Just wondering if anybody is having the same issue as I am: it has been over two months since I received last inquiry about my apartment on Airbnb. This has never happened before! All last year I had a steady weekly stream of inquiries and as the result was able to rent out my Brooklyn apt every month. I think this has to do with some "improvements" introduced by Airbnb to how the listings show to potential guests. I wonder if any hosts (especially in Bay Ridge area) have had the same issue? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Yes, the inquiries have diminished in these last few months. I want to blame the weather, but it's discouraging. I heard there was a 40% increase of hosts for NY.

Thanks Evelyn. I wonder if other hosts habe a better experience renting on other sites, like Homeaway and similar?

I also rent with flip key and I have received some bookings. I know of other hosts who are renting in other sites as well. I wrote a post about it here: tinyurl.com/AirbnbCheat

Thanks Evelyn. What about other sites, like VRBO, Homeaway...are they any good?

I know of some hosts using booking, and other sites. I used to be booked only via Airbnb but because of the increase of hosts I ventured out. Thankfully, some sites link to the Airbnb calendar, but Airbnb doesn't link to theirs. You have to make sure you block any days you booked somewhere else.
Giving you some pointers, your headline is:
Cozy apartment with Wi-Fi $$
For me it means that the space is medium priced. Cozy means small.
Quiet, clean, comfortable apartment
Means more to your guests. You can take your description and headlines from the reviews of your guests.
Wifi is important and neccesary, but it doesn't deserve headline status. Wifi is expected and missed if your space doesn't have it.

Hello Everyone, your listings have little to do with it. I work in travel industry for an airline, I can tell you this is currently the "offpeak" season. The year has a wave for tourism. You have Offpeak and Peak. Each happen twice per year.

Thanks Paul or Martin :-) What are approximate start-end dates for those seasons?

I hadn't had my apartment to myself from June through December. We only had one guest in January, and two in February. Now, we are picking up and are booked through June.

I have seen recently a slight increase in inquiries but still nothing compared to last year...it must be the harsh winter we are having this time around..

I think it also may have something to do with the Euro to Dollar ratio evening out. The last few years the Euro has been valued much higher than the dollar until recently, so European travelers funds don't go as far here currently. Good time to visit Europe though.
