Unhappy guest
I had a guest that requested to leave a little late but I declined because I have another guest checking in but she said give her extra 30 mins. Which I did but it's was past 30 mins so i ask her again but she did not know I was waiting outside for her and her guest to leave I was there earlier and saw two car parked and I ask her that it would be nice if she have told me that she had extra guest just for security purposes and she said I called her a liar which was not my intention plus she broke my sled and my lamp she admitted it and told me that she was meaning to tell me but was upset that I did not reply to her text telling me that she left my place in good and clean condition which is not true because I was so busy cleaning up my cabin for my next guests so I don't have time to answer to her text she emailed me that she thought I was nice but realized I was not this is really draining me because I want all my guest to have a good experience don't I have to right to ask questions or confirm please let me know how to deal with this kind of guest I would appreciate any comments plus what happen if you get bad reviews after the guest leave not during thanks you

Leave her an honest review, she wouldn't leave the house at check out time, broke a few items, had an unauthorized guest and was rude to you. The only way airbnb works if people leave honest reviews. Personally I would not want that woman in my house, and if you don't leave a true review it subjects the rest of us to her. If she leaves you a bad review you can post a public response which will appear under her review.

It is very difficult with some guests and you don't have "chemistry " with them all. Some are just sullen and unfriendly but it's not about the host, everyone is different . I don't like the review system because while most people are enthusiastic and complimentary , others can be petty and you feel that you can never please them. So it goes .......

Thank you Kim now she emailed me again telling me that the lamp broke because I have a loose plug which she and it is a safety hazards I can't believe it now it's my fault that my brand new lamp is broken and I'm only charging her for the glue instead of the amount of lamp unbelievable but nevertheless I don't loose hope I will be a better host for my next guest I will just take this as lesson learned .

Oh my gosh... Sounds like a roommate I used to have, lol! I totally agree with Kim, please leave an honest review. There is quite a learning curve to hosting and you will just get better every time and learn to set boundaries early on. Most guests are really amazing.

Just be chilled with the comms between you two and get airbnb involved. And then leave a review to warn others! Remember they can only read your review when they've left theirs. And if they leave an unfair review you can comment to defend yourself! Just always be polite and courteous in your emails, even if you're dealing with a person from hell!

Think we all need to be more honest about guests, been Lucky so far, but will certainly mention in future reviews if this kind of things happens to me

Aaaaack sounds like my one nightmare guest I had over the summer!!! So sorry you're dealing with this. It's the worst. Honest review for sure. My guest & I had also emailed back and forth prior to reviews so she probably knew a bit about what mine would say so hers was way worse. But I did get to respond. In the end she apologized via email and I said let's drop it and pretend we never met. She was the end of my Airbnb honeymoon period for sure. Learned a lot.

Mags, she sounds like a guest from hell. I agree with someone who advises you to leave her true review. I suggest to call Airbnb and tell them what happened and ask them to document it. In the review you can also write a feedback directly to Airbnb and no one but Airbnb will see it. I think the review system is double edge sward. It put a lot of pressure on hosts and because of it guests from hell do not get the reviews they deserve.
Guests also have an option to write in the review page a feedback to Airbnb about their experience and WITHOUT writing a public review however Airbnb will penalize the host by reducing the host rating stars based solely on the guest feedback (if it is bad feedback) which they keep confidential and the host will never know what they were accused of and why they are getting penalize no matter if the guest feedback is fictional or not Airbnb will take the gust side of the story without checking it’s truthfulness!
Host will never have fair opportunity to address the guest confidential feedback to Airbnb. What is wrong with this picture?
