About a guest who make a reservation for her friend...

A guest contacted me yesterday and said she booked the flat for her friend who likes visiting Paris. After looking at her profile, I saw a good review on her and I accepted the inquiry and ask for more informations about her friends and contacts. This morning, she finally sent me her friend's phone number and said that she'll contact me to fix a check-in time, but not a word more about her friend, neither her name, or her job. So I checked the phone number on internet and first thing I found out about the number given to me was registered on many "sexual escort girl websites"...!So shocked and embarrassed, I immediately wrote back to that guest, but no answers since. Finally I decided to cancel the booking... This is a really awkward situation... I didn't know how to deal with this first, but I hope that I made a right decision....

Of course you did... Seems that prostitutes uses Airbnb apartments for their... bizness... And I'm sure you don't agree with this.

Do you think I should contact Airbnb and inform them about that user?

The fact that you cancelled will have a negative impact on your search ranking. If you explain the reason for cancelling to Airbnb, they'll remove this negative from your record.

Not true. I had a pre-approved booking that I wanted to send a special offer to. The Airbnb staff member on the telephone instruct me to accept the booking after which I could send the "special offer". So, I did as the staff member instructed but found no link to submit a special offer. In a panic I cancelled the reservation. Subsequently I called Airbnb staff, but they have refused to remove the cancellation from my profile despite the fact that is was their staff that instructed me to accept a reservation I did not want. So, I will likely never become a super host despite my 5 star rating in all categories.

YEs, as Garrett says, when this sort of thing happens, you want to contact AIrbnb customer service, so that your cancellation of the reservation doesn't result in penalties against you.
Also, keep in mind that "third party bookings" where one person makes a reservation for someone else, and the person doing the booking won't actually be staying at your place, are not allowed per Airbnb policy. So if you get someone wanting to do this you should tell them that they can't book for someone else, and that the person who actually wants to stay is the one who has to contact you and do the booking with their own account.

I'm with Deborah - I don't accept reservations except for the (or one of the) people staying with me.
