Cancellation Help
I continued to get inquires from a guest who was either unable or unwilling to confirm/ upload some sort of identification document.
Then i received a booking request from a guest who had adequate verifications and reviews, mentioning that "Trixxy" would be contacting me to handle the check in et cetera
Trixxy was the same guest who was either unable or unwilling to upload an identificationwho i had forgotten about
Let me be honest I wanted to know if Trixxy was a male or female before i booked . I could not tell
They would not reply nor comply
The guest who i accepted the booking for was doing booking either on behalf of Trixxy or on behalf of Trixxy and other partners as they would be arriving at different times.
I will never know as I cancelled the reservation.
I feel it was not completely honest for one potential guest to begin a process when another could or would not comply
The Question
If I want to cancel in this context
Should i have contact customer support before cancelling or
cancel right away when cancelling
to provide them time to make other arrangements ( they still have 5 days)
My immediate issue had to do with one guest taking up with the booking when another can't or won't comply

My staff says i'm wrong but i can't walk down the street without being solicited and this booking request was an effort to salvage an incomplete booking request. I do feel a big guilty or I get it may be tuff to be a cool transgender but the neighbourhood here can be tuff on me as well

I'm not following the problem here, sorry. Why did you accept the booking in the first place if you didn't have enough information?
My own opinion is that photographs and verifications tell you NOTHING about what kind of guest a person will be. I only accept guests who can communicate respectfully with me. If they have a photo, fine. But after hosting several hundred guests I can assure you that neither verified ID or photos guarantee anything.
Sorry not to be of any help in your particular situation but honestly, I can't understand why you accepted in the first place as I said.

Also, what's the big deal with being transgender? As you're running a company, I would have thought you'd be a bit more circumspect. Why do you care?

I had two inquiries , one from a guest who could not comply with an identification request that was followed up by a guest who could comply and had nice reviews , but it was my impression that they were booking on behalf of the guest who could not comply as that would be their partner during the stay . I care because the transgenders in the neighbourhood always whistle at me and want to give me a blow job if i give them money ,

i did not accept the booking from the guest who could not comply and did accept the booking from the guest who did comply regarding verification it is also a useful tool to understanding if we can both get through the process in fairness they were both respectful with the inquiries

Hi John, you should not have cancelled the guest booking in this case. You should have contacted customer support and asked them to have the booking cancelled on your behalf, as you felt that you were misled by a verified guest booking on behalf of an unverified guest. You are penalized for cancelling a booking yourself, so it's something that most hosts are very careful not to do. That doesn't mean the booking can't be cancelled, it's just that you should try to have the guest cancel the booking, or customer support cancel the booking - then it does not affect on your standing.
Any issues of a guests orientation, or any unwanted attention that you receive on the streets is none of our business and should be left out of this forum.
Good luck.

Thanks for answering the question Maria . Airbnb removed the block and automatic review . I made a good faith effort to answer the question regarding any attention i get on the street and get your point .

My apologies John and Company, for appearing so critical. I would only repeat my earlier comment - don't accept a booking until you are sure that you have enough information. And don't expect verification to guarantee a good guest!

Your comment on transgenders really makes me uncomfortable - Is the actions of the local transgenders anything to do with trixxie? If not, The underlying text of your post has a discriminatory tone to it..

I have been intrigued and shocked in equal measure at some of the things I've read on these groups that make assumptions on nationality, ethnicity, mental health.. Maybe we are a bit more attuned to it here in the UK... eek, probably opened another can of worms there...

Well, us spud-eating Paddies must be right there with you guys in the UK on that one Becky! I've found some of the 'observations' discussed in these groups of potential guests/total strangers to be utterly jaw-dropping (often based on nothing more innocuous than a photo, a snippet of information or even an idiosyncracy) And as you know, I'm not easily shocked!

Careful on why u turn down a guest. 1) because discrimination is wrong. 2) you can get sued. 3) I'm wondering if there is s polite, kind and legal way to address your concerns in a personal message to the guest. (Probably not lol). I'm pretty good in diffusing sticky situations. I'd i can come up with something I'll post it later.
