Sleeping Arrangements for Group?
I have a returning guest who wants to come back, but with more people. In this particular case, I'm ok with hosting several people (6) and I have the space, I just don't have the beds.
They are unwilling to use sleeping bags.
Anyone have any ideas for economical sleeping arrangements? Futons are costly. Layers of foam bedding becomes costly. Air mattresses are costly and leak. The cheap ones I saw on Amazon have bad reviews because they leak. Help! I need suggestions! How do I create beds for a group of people?

I've had some good $20 (twin) air mattresses that haven't leaked in the 10 years I've owned them. I'd get some and test them out first.
When I helped him move recently a friend had what looked like a very comfy cot that takes up very little space - I'll ask him where he found it. He's a huge guy.

Oops, this is actually the one he has because "it has a better height/weight limit." amzn.to/1olxqsh That first one looks good if you don't have any big/tall guys.

I have used air mattress without a problem. And you can use them in the future for other guests.

I have a feeling that this experience is not going to be a good one for you in terms of added cost vs worth the money, stress, and quite possible a negative review if they don't like the air mattresses. If you dont have beds to accommodate and they are not providing the extra air beds for the guests beyond the max number of guests you normally can sleep, then it is kind of presumptuous for the guests wanting you to go buy more. I would have said sorry, but my limit is X.

Oh, no way am I paying for the beds. Or the sheets or pillows. Nope, that's all on them.

I agree with Leah here. Your listing says you can accommodate 2 people; it's unreasonable to expect that you'll absorb the cost of bedding for an extra 4. Unless you intend to host more groups in the future, it's not a particularly good investment for you.
However, if you genuinely believe that having 8 people and 4 cats in your house will be comfortable for everyone involved, that there's truly enough space, and that your bathrooms and other facilities are sufficient for that degree of demand, then I'd suggest approving the booking under the condition that the 4 extra guests supply their own air mattresses and linens. If they don't find this to be a reasonable request, I would decline them without hesitation. There is no reason that these people couldn't have chosen a listing that was already suitable for a group of their size.

Costco have these great camping type foam mattresses around $50 each. We have used them for camping and in our home for extra guests. Better then a blow up. They fold up. Very comfortable

My neighborhood has an old-fashioned neighborhood listserv where I could borrow guest beds/mattresses/linens. Or from my church, which hosts homeless families a few weeks out of the year. There's also places like the Freecycle community, but with things like beds, you do need to be careful.

Javier & Kym, We don't usually take to many extra guest...its adds utility costs, however I have had people who add a friend or relative and I use twin size fold-away bed and the average price is about $99 each at the furniture store. The are also easy to store away after they are gone because they can fit in our bedroom closets without taking too much space. Good luck.
