Strict cancellation policy does not seem strict enough
I have a guest booked to come in 8 days and now she is asking questions that are crystal clear in the first sentence of my listing.
I look at the policy and see moderate would give me nothing if she cancels and strict would only give me 50% within 7 days. I know it has been discussed before to have more policy options and I wanted to bring that up again as I will be seriously unhappy if she cancels due to her whim / not reading and I miss the chance to book another guest.
Am I right or wrong that the policies have become more lax (except for airbnb keeping 100% of its fees) Thanks!

Some would like a more strict policy, but Airbnb doesn't have anything more strict except for long-term cancellation policy which is more strict than "strict." Under strict policy, guest gets 0% refund if they cancel more than 7 days before the reservation, and 50% refund if they cancel less than 7 days before the reservation. This has not changed since strict policy began -- and neither have the other policies -- so there has been no laxity introduced.
Under long term (applies to 28 days or more reservations only) guest gets NO refund if they cancel at ANY time prior to the reservation, and if they cancel during the reservation, they must give 30 day's notice of cancellation, and they can only get a refund for the part of the reservation still remaining after that 30 days. So as you can see, long term is the strictest of all but it only applies to reservations over 28 days long.

Interesting I didn't know there were different policies depending on stay length. Thanks!

I'm guessing they are getting ready to roll out a "Super Strict" policy. I noticed it recently while looking at Airbnb's in LA. I'll make a separate post with a screen shot I took of the details. Sounds like it is in beta.
