Five More Days
There are now five days left until this host community group is due to close. The scheduled close date has been postponed several times before (Nov 25 2015 was the original close date, then Feb 29 2016, then April 29 2016 now May 31 2016) so we don't expect that to continue happening but one never knows.
I decided to do another "groups content divination" by using the number five to search for old content in these host groups. Here are some interesting old threads I found (I will share five threads I found, all heavy on "five"):
www.airbnb.com/groups/content/content-5555 is a thread which is about a man who was arrested for hosting in his own home in Japan! The situation for home sharing has gotten better since then but 2 years ago this was happening there. Scary!
www.airbnb.com/groups/content/content-55554 is a thread featuring a common problem that is posted about on the host groups probably every week -- someone's property isn't showing up when they do a listing search!
www.airbnb.com/groups/content/content-55355 is another common host dilemma -- what to do when the guest asks for a discount?!!! This is also asked very regularly on the host community boards.
www.airbnb.com/groups/content/content-51115 is a thread where a host describes an "unusual request" -- she is being asked to be caretaker for someone's 10 year old child, who presumably is to stay alone at the host's home for several days. WWYD?
Finally, and this is very synchronistic, I found a thread about Glenn, the founder of New Hosts Forum! www.airbnb.com/groups/content/content-55506 praises Glenn for having a list of his verification requirements for guests, actually stated within his own profile! Glenn isn't hosting now so he has removed that but when he was hosting he had a long list of guest requirements stated in his profile. Smart man!
What's the strangest/most interesting/most helpful/most alarming or otherwise most notable thread that you can recall on these original host community groups?
