Seven More Days!!
Barrring an unforseen postponement, this group and all other of the old host community groups only have 7 more days to exist...Airbnb is scheduled to close them as of May 31st! (This closure date has been postponed 3 times...)
If you are interested in continuing with the community we've build up in New Hosts Forum, as well as Anecdotes and Home Sharers groups, you can find us at www.globalhostingforum.com.
It's been a wonderful 2.5 years of sharing, and I thank you all for your participation and all the gifts and riches of experiences and wisdom that everyone has brought to this group!

Thanks for moderating all these years! Sadly, the new forum is not nearly as user friendly (design-wise) but I am glad to know it is there.

I am curious to know why AIRBNB is closing this. Does anyone know? It´s got to have some legal ramifications or something. Just curious. It´s a shame. I love the design. Just like Eugenie said, the new one is not as user friendly IMO.

There are many reasons why Airbnb is closing these old groups -- the groups have had several problems such as -- there is no working search function, so that no one can search for content. Of the existing 440 host groups, only about a dozen are actually active -- the others have not been used in some time, or are full of advertising. Many of the groups' moderators are not moderating (Anecdotes for instance is a good example of that). Inappropriate content can't be flagged, because flagging a post on the groups doesn't notify anyone -- the notification goes nowhere. In the past this has created some difficult and potentiallyl problematic issues for Airbnb, since there have been problematic posts on these old groups that it couldn't easily be notified about. For instance one infamous case in which a host threatened to kill herself on the Hosting 911 group. Understandably, Airbnb would not want to have hosts be able to say things like that which could pose any liability for their company.
So Airbnb is addressing these issues by closing these old groups and setting up the new Community Center.
For those who dont' like the GlobalHosting Forum that has been set up to continue New Hosts Forum (and a few other groups), you might like to join one of the many host Facebook groups. I have tried to list as many of those as I know about on the GLobalHosting Forum.
Others who want to stay on the Airbnb site's Community Center may use that -- we recommend you use the Host Circle, which is a host-only board. It's little used now but some hosts may be able to create a community there.

Thanks, Deborah! I don't use any other group than this one, and a Facebook group. You said: "you might like to join one of the many host Facebook groups. I have tried to list as many of those as I know about on the GLobalHosting Forum." I'm not sure if our Memphis group (of which I am one of the moderators) is in your list, but if not, I'd love for you to include it. The name is Airbnb Memphis Host (in the singular, for some reason). Thank you so much!
