Help with Phrasing Review
If any of our expert reviewers have time please help me with a review. I had a guest who has stayed several times before just left today. First time he has had to share the common areas and I thought he would be fine with it. He greeted the new guest very friendly. However, the next morning he complained to that the guy does number 1 standing up. I was stunned and said that I thought all men did and that I believe at least most American men do. He started talking about how disgusting it is to go standing up and made snide comment about other guest you know what. I told him I hope he wasn't going to say anything to my guest and definitely not say that I minded. That evening he locked the guest out putting the chain on the door. Next morning I mentioned it to him and asked to please not do it again. He became passive agressive leaving the door totally unlocked on several occasions. Opening and closing the door so the chime would sound off at least 5 times in a row. He left coffee spills and food crumbs all over the coffee bar food warming station so anyone use it behind him would have to clean up his mess. I think he doesn't want to share the common space period. We have really bad weather today and airport is holding planes so I blocked his old room so if he is stuck in town he can't rebook. This morning he shows me a picture he took if a tree roach next to his toothbrush. I asked if he killed it and he said no it was too fast. How you word the review or would you let it slide.
Linda
PS - I don't have roach but if you open the door and left it open they come in attracted to the lights. Guest would frequently leave door open for longer than normal. Working outside as he do, I know he knows the problem with tree roaches in Houston area.

Ooooo, I am driving so can't type much but I would love a crack at writing that! Definitely mention he used to be fine but after some remarks & behavior, you can no longer recommend him.
Linda
Thanks CC - I will use that line.

"Joe was a good solo guest but he does respect common spaces with other guests. I can only recommend him for whole house/apartment listings"
Alexina
You meant: "but he *doesn't* respect...."
Queenie & Ted
Thanks for that catch Alexina!

You worded your response really well, Q&T. The adult equivalent of "plays well with others" - except this guest didn't. (I'd also *not* want to know how Irritating Male Guest seemed to know so much about the alleged peeing habits of the Other Male Guest... I'd be totally creeped out if I thought someone was analyzing and making comments about my personal bathroom habits!)
Linda
Alexia, I was thinking the same thing. Exactly how would he know listening, did he leave door open and he saw him, and why the heck care if your not cleaning up the bathroom which he was not.
Linda
Thank you Queenie and Ted - that's what I want so say.

I also like Queenie's review. I might add to it, something about not being courteous to other guests, as commenting about other's urination habits and their private parts, comes under discourtesy, in my view -- at least to say he was not courteous is a polite way of referring to very rude behavior.
So I'd say,
"Joe may be a good solo guest but he doesn't respect common spaces with other guests, and did not demonstrate courtesy and respect for other guests. I can only recommend him for whole house/apartment listings"
