An AirBnB location in Iceland offering guest accommodation has been shut down by police due to lack of an operating license.
RÚV reports that the location in question was in Suðurnes, southwest Iceland, but police are planning on raiding more AirBnB locations as well.
Police will be checking to see if any of them have a license to operate guest accommodation in Iceland and, if not, will shut them down. There are an estimated 135 AirBnB postings in Suðurnes alone.
There are close to 2,000 such apartments listed in the Reykjavík area, and police have long been concerned with the business.
A great many of these postings are operating illegally, and they have been the bane of established guest accommodation operators all over Iceland.
