No water in apartment
Hello everyone, we have been hosting casually for a few years and I've run into my first crisis. We are experiencing record cold and the pipes for my apartment are frozen. My landlord is absentee and has not made looking into it a priority, now I have people here with no running water. What are my best options? Should I offer to cancel their reservation and help them find a place to stay? Should I offer to let them stay here if they want, with a discounted rate? I have a major commitment tonight that I can't reschedule and am supposed to be preparing for, so time is limited. Any help would be appreciated.

CALL Airbnb right away and let them know your circumstance. Having no water makes an apartment uninhabitable. I'm fairly certain Airbnb will re-home the guests. DO NOT CANCEL their reservation! Let Airbnb do it. Good luck.

Your Guests should be the first priority as a Host . You can give the guests an option for being rehomed , or staying with an agreed upon discount . I understand you may have a previous engagement , but when pipes freeze , there is also the chance that they can burst and create more damage to your home !! I don't think you want to come back and find that your place has been flooded and your belongings destroyed or that the guests have been flooded out . Does your utility company have a emergency number to call or your city ?
Good Luck on this .
