Does anyone have information on the Short Term Rental Ordinance that Passed the Board of Supervisors on January 12? How do we make sure we are in compliance, etc.?
I found the following summary online, but it doesn't answer specific questions:
RENTAL ORDINANCE
Riverside County supervisors have given preliminary approval to an ordinance that would regulate short-term vacation rentals in unincorporated communities. Key points of the ordinance include:
• Point of Contact: The ordinance requires owners to designate a contact person who can respond to problems at properties within an hour.
• Fees: It will cost rental owners $250 to obtain a short-term rental certificate, which must be renewed annually at a cost of $100. Fee revenue will pay to administer the ordinance, including hiring an outside management company to enforce the rules.
• Short-term only: The ordinance will not apply to apartments and other dwellings rented long-term to tenants who live there.

I answered my own question! The rental ordinance will go back to the Riverside County Board of Supervisors for a final vote at a later date. Here is the link if anyone in unincorporated Riverside County, California, is interested. www.pe.com/articles/ordinance-791631-county-rental.html

Thanks for posting this, idygirl. I am going to copy your post and post it down below on the board for Political/Economic news (including Short term rental news) for California.
