Hi Martha
THere have been many posts about this on the Home Sharers of SF group, here:
www.airbnb.com/groups/51
You might want to go there and ask this, and probably keith or someone else who is a regular member of that group can help you with this.

@derek, get out, there is nothing on your website ( a for-profit website for your CPA business) which addresses the very specific and often difficult situations that San Francisco hosts are uniquely facing at this time. There is one issue which has been much in the news and has been discussed at length among San Francisco hosts and which also has involved some hosts planning to sue the city of San Francisco for trying to double dip and collect back taxes twice, once from Airbnb for the hosts, and once from all the hosts individually. There is another issue, also unique to SF, that Airbnb has provided personal data about hosts to the Tax Collector in SF ( it doesn't do this in other cities) and the Tax Collector is thus now contacting all hosts in SF and telling them that they have to officially register as short term rental hosts and get a permit & business license for that.
It is great that you are providing free tax info to hosts on your site, but the method by which you are doing that appears much more like spamming and advertising than actually answering questions.

MEssage sent to Airbnb groups moderator:
Derek is posting this advertisement for his own for-profit business on many threads on these forums. I have counted about 5 so far. He does offer some free information about tax-related issues on his website, but several of the questions that have been posted, such as this one, and the one about letters from SF Tax collector, are not answered anywhere on his website. I think it's fine to direct hosts to a website that does have useful info on it, but only if there is actualy info there that answers the question -- otherwise, the motive seems to be to advertise -- in this case, his CPA business. insert quote here
