Peter4 months ago Do Airbnb rentals really cut into the rental stock in San Francisco? "At most, there would be 3,992 apartments and 2,494 rooms taken off the rental market and of these listings, only 76.8% have had a booking in the last six months. Of those properties that have been booked, only 1,144 are available for rental full-time which means that only 0.5% of the city’s apartment stock is being rented regularly short-term." Click HERE for USA Today article. My two cents: This article in USA Today's Travel Section is reporting on data collected and analyzed by EverBooked, the pricing platform that has sponsored Home Sharers events. The picture it presents is good news in terms of percentage of rental stock affected by home sharing, but less good in terms of displacement. Still, these numbers add to the complicated picture emerging on the effects of home sharing on the rental market in SF, a picture that is far from the "blame home sharing" impression promoted by our opponents.

Jordie3 months ago Airbnb Uses Data in San Francisco to Fight Back Against Critics "Airbnb’s report, obtained by TIME ... is adding to a pile of reports that have already attempted to assess the company’s economic benefits and costs to the city. The company’s data team used proprietary information about Airbnb users that government agencies do not have access to; although that means no one can double-check Airbnb’s figures, the company says it is the most realistic picture of how the service is affecting the City by the Bay. Their take: assertions that Airbnb is cannibalizing much-needed housing stock are overblown." Click ti.me/1JDxrQ4 for Time article. Click bit.ly/1dY6Xxk for Airbnb Report. From Peter Kwan's post on SF Group: The report is a very valuable analysis which every Host concerned about his debate should take a look at. It does a very good job of deflating the hyperbole and hysteria surrounding the concern about alleged displacement by home sharing and the housing crisis. My 3 cents: Perhaps Berkeley public speakers can pull data from this report to corroborate their 1-2 minute talks at the City Council meeting tonight!
