The games have begun
So I finally answered my phone from the 'private caller'....Matt just wanted to ask me if I had placed the parcel in the mail. I replied Yes, I have placed the parcel in the mail. Then he said he just read the lovely review I left him and wanted to thank me for that.My response was Your Welcome. Then he went on to say he just wanted to let me know that he will be reporting me to Airbnb as what I am doing is illegal....taking money from them.I have my transient accommodation license....I told him to do as he likes, he's an ass hole. Now I guess I shall have to phone Airbnb and let them know of his intention which would be covered under their extortion rules regarding forcing hosts to leave good reviews. What a flippin headache these guests can be.

My report has been made to Airbnb as I felt it was best I contact them instead of him making up some crazy stories about me first. Luckily I have my tracking number for the post as that was all that Airbnb seemed concerned about that I take care of posting his package. Gotta follow your gut instinct. I knew this ding-a-ling would never refund my post. Now he'll have to pay up before taking possession of the package. I always preferred the Mary Go Round to a freaky Roller Coaster ride.
Michelle
What an asshole! I really hope Airbnb back you up. Let us know how it progresses. Good luck.
Rhonda
There is no way he can hurt me. I am totally legal here in my County and State; had informed my neighbors before I began as I knew if they were going to have problems with it there was no sense in placing any effort into this brilliant idea I had. What I wish is that they will red flag him as they agreed his threats do fall under their extortion rules regarding attempted use of force to have reviews altered. I wonder how I could ever look up a guest that was red flagged and thus the reason why Airbnb forwarded the rules to me. I did tell Airbnb that I did tell him to "do as you like, you're an Asshole!" and hung up on him. They may take threats seriously, but apparently make way for host's moments of unprofessionalism. I'll probably loose my Stoopid Host status because I'm always (it seems) whining to them regarding these unruly guests. New learning lessons everyday, that was the first uncomplimentary review I had left. In the past I would leave no review as I figured the next host would have a better grip on hosting style, people just sometimes don't click, and some people are just never happy. I don't much care anymore, this is getting to be a bigger waste of time than if I just sold the damn house and lived under a bridge for free. Just think how much money I'd save on soap.

I was able to locate the previous guest that had been red flagged and the extortion reply from Airbnb support. She has 7 lovely reviews and is still an active member. Perhaps ending the groups is a good idea after all, keep us all clueless in the reality of our attempts to be the best hosts possible without hearing what we are faced with on a daily basis. Perhaps ignorance can be bliss.
Rhonda
Both of these guests were smart enough not to type their threats in the Airbnb feeds and only stated such on the phone. Perhaps that's were the problem lies.

Yes, seems that they know how to play the system. Filing/Reconfirming conversations on the message system or via text can help a bit but will not stop encountering these kind of people. Phew, Rhonda, it is time for some considerate and decent guests. I keep my fingers crossed!

Hi Rhonda, had a very similar issue about 1.5 weeks back, had to pull out the big guns to get heard... big big guns... maybe they've learnt something. Crossing my fingers!!

I'm beginning to think they are not so much on the hosts side as I originally thought. I had written them to remove my history of one cancellation, as the person did finally provide the information I had requested, requested the booking again which I accepted. Their response was if I cancelled another I would loose my Stoopid Host status. Now how does that make sense? All they could explain was there was no financial penalty. After 3 attempts to clarify my question I gave up.
Rhonda
This particular scenario I'm describing would be a wash. Apparently not in their eyes.

Scream and shout here, tweet, on the facebook page... call until you get someone senior on the line, there must be like 5000 kids working in that call center :/

I had that other guest who's feed read what room was his intention to book for a second night, booked another cheaper room, I hit accept at midnight not paying attention. I asked Airbnb to read his feeds of his true intention of what room he thought he had booked and indeed wanted to stay in. Didn't make a difference to them. They said I hit accept and that was the end of that conversation. Apparently they wouldn't even have a look to see what the guest had written which totally supported my case that he owed the extra 15$. Whatevers, first crappy guests and house, now zero support and a whopping $100 travel credit that I'll never use. I'm not so sure that's the type of pat on the back I thought I would receive for all I've done. So many of my guests have stated my house was their first Airbnb experience and they'll never go back to hotels. GRRRRR.

Rhonda, just to summarize: if you can send a parcel freight collect, it's a good thing. What happens if he does not collect? Goes it back and you have to pay?
Why are refunded charges considered income? Can't you define them as charges?
The groups will work for a while longer than originally intended and the new groups are going in the same sense - it's very much work in progress right now, but from changing a lot t's going to keeping a lot and adding on features, so in the end rather improving. We won't loose each other.
I can't see your profile right now, but if you have a cancelled remark in your reviews for a rebooking, just add a comment : I cancelled because the guest wanted to book another room, which he did and we were both happy. - Or something in that sense.

Yes, as Helga indicates, it now appears that things have changed slightly for hte transition, these current groups are likely to go on through February instead of ending in November 23rd, so we all have a bit more time on Anecdotes. More time for transition but eventually these current groups will end.
