Great article, Jvo. I find Prop F appalling. Count me in the camp that says the government does not belong in our bedrooms in any way shape or form. What we do with our bedrooms, how we rent them, is not their business to dictate to us. Business regulations is one thing, licenses and taxes and so on, but flat out prohibitions on renting out rooms -- no. Anyone who wants more info on Prop F can find much, much more here in the Home Sharers of San Francisco group on Airbnb groups: www.airbnb.com/groups/51as well as the groups' site on this forum, where I have imported all the content from the last 6 months on the AIrbnb groups: globalhosting.freeforums.net/board/18/home-sharers-san-francisco

This whole thing about Prop F and techie blaming thing to me sounds like a kid who lost his toy in the bedroom and went outside to search for it, because 'it is too dark in the bedroom'. Housing 'crisis' in SF is caused largely by rent control. But instead of changing that specific law (put the light in the bedroom), they distracted themselves with airbnb, techies and so forth. And somehow lots of people bought into this. It never stops to amaze me since these are very well educated, brilliant people. I guess the brainwash could work really well when the same stories (i.e. lies) are fed to you for so many years...
