Disappointed with first guests

First Booking...not Great.



Hi all I just had my first booking.And am super disappointed in how it went.Even though my house rules stated no smoking they smoked ALOT of weed in my place for three days.When i opened the door I almost fell backwards.All my bedding etc smells like a concert :(They also left food in the oven and general mess everywhere.

I think that you had bad luck on the first booking, Shannon. I have not experienced that although I did have one guest who smelled like weed. Of course, I rent only a room, so I am around a lot.

Ya, they were just bad guests. I think we've all re-thought if we should host, but I'm sure you following ones will be great - ESPECIALLY if you take a deposit and make the rules clear about what case you'll keep the deposit.

I must add that some of my worst guests have been the ones I thought would be really cool. One left the sink overflowing with dishes and nested glasses together full of water so several broke. Pretty crazy.

What a shame. Don't be discouraged...most guests are amazing. At least, that's our experience. You can always put in your house rules that you don't allow smoking in your home. Good luck!

Definitely say up front no smoking or drugs allowed. When a guest throws you a curve it's best to set them straight immediately. If you are timid, call Airbnb concierge; they will do the dastardly work for you.
