Reservation trouble
I'm having a future resv. going in a bad direction. He has started making unreasonable requests for refunds and changing length of stay but will not respond to the airbnb resv. change order system. I'm getting a bad feeling and want to cancel but then I won't be able to rent the space for the two weeks of his original accepted reservation (even though he now wants only one week and a refund). How/who do I contact airbnb directly to help straighten this mess out so I don't get penalized? I've been doing airbnb almost four years and never had anything like this happen ;-(

i had a similiar problem, just call the main number, they were very helpful
Peter:
James, whatever you do, make sure the changes are handled through the Airbnb system. Do not, under any circumstances, agree to any private transaction. That is how all fraud, scams and trouble happen. If everything is done through the Airbnb system, you much better protected. If the Guest objects, just say you're contractually bound to follow the Airbnb rules.
Michael:
James, I completely empathize with your situation! I recently had a similar situation, where a future guest became sarcastic and rude when I couldn't accommodate his request for an earlier check-in time. My partner and I decided we would not feel safe hosting this guest. His reservation was for only one night, so I called Airbnb and consulted with their rep. The rep said I could cancel on this guest, but I would face penalties (e.g., loss of superhost status for one year, and that particular night would be blocked out), but she said she would submit an exceptional request to Airbnb management to waive those penalties. Long story short, I canceled, and Airbnb agreed to waive those penalties! Airbnb was terrific.
