The board on "Guests who want/demand exceptions to house rules" has more threads on service animal issues, because generally that is where the service animal issue arises: you dont' allow pets at your listing, but someone is asking or even insisting on coming to stay with their service animal.
In my opinion any property owner doing short term rentals, or long term rentals in a unit on the property where they themselves live, should be able to say NO to all service animals. Particularly for a short term rental, there's no reason at all why someone should be permitted to come with their service animal if you dont' want animals at your listing. They can go to a hotel, which is set up for people with service animals. They can stay at listings that do allow pets. For anyone with a service animal to ask to stay at a listing where it's clearly stated that pets/animals are not allowed, is IMO a form of bullying and this kind of bullying should not be enabled or tolerated. It should be stopped.
