STR hosts see a heck of a lot of service animal fraud, where people falsely claim that their pet or emotional support animal is a service animal, in order to try to exploit the exemption to no pets rules that exists for service animals. Gradually, slowly, governments are addressing this flat-out fraud, such as with this bill: www.telegram.com/news/20190917/kim-ferguson-bill-would-make-owners-who-pass-off-pets-as-service-animals-payUnder this arrangement, those who falsely claim their pet or ESA is a service animal, would be guilty of a civil infraction and required to pay a fine. Of course, in order to prove that their animal either is or is NOT a service animal, there needs to be some kind of documentation or evidence provided, and this documentation is exactly what government has thus far refused to allow businesses to require from those bringing in alleged "service animals." I say, start requiring documentation for all service animals.
