I was motivated to write this blog article after observing a lot of problems with bullying and poor moderation in some of the existing host community groups, both those on Facebook and some not on Facebook. In it, I survey the history of the host community groups, from their beginning on the Airbnb website, where some problems in the groups began to occur, and then as they moved to offsite groups. I point out some of the problems the groups have had, and explain some reasons why I think bullying occurs on the groups, and make suggestions for better group moderation. globalhostingblogs.com/2019/05/31/the-host-community-groups-history-and-problems-bullying-and-poor-moderation/

I just wanted to say thank you Deborah for this historical recount, and for all the articles and collection/assembling/archiving of information in what now amounts to a "library" of airbnb hosting info. It's a great service in my opinion and I appreciate having it all here forever! Hope your hosting season is going well. Mabel.

Thank you Mabel!! And you are quite welcome!
It has been for the most part enjoyable to assemble this "library", particularly at the start with saving some of the old threads from the old original Host Community Groups that ended in 2016. I think these threads will be interesting to look at 10 or 20 years from now and compare to the kinds of discussions happening on other host groups or the ABB Community Center...I have a feeling the style of discussion is changing.
I do hope this library lasts a long time....things do change online, but hopefully the company that produces these forums will remain in business for the forseeable future!
Even though one can find a lot of things online through a standard internet search, it gets more difficult to find old articles or articles on a broad subject, because these get buried in standard Google search results. So this is part of the reason that cataloguing or archiving such articles is of value.
