It's become a spreading phenomenon for young people, apparently particularly in some cities like Chicago, to book an Airbnb under fraudulent pretenses (book it for 1 or 2 people) and then bring over dozens or hundreds of people and have a rager party.
This has been happening for some time, of course, but the popularity of this has apparently increased. Some hosts have taken it as a mission to learn about plans for these parties and try to warn hosts if they can find out which Airbnb listing has been booked for the party, and which host has been conned and is going to get a nasty surprise.
It seems to me that simply prohibiting locals from booking a listing would go a LONG way to preventing this problem. Why aren't more hosts taking simple steps to protect themselves?
Many of the ads for these illegal parties are being found on social media, like Facebook. Facebook actually has new "community standards" which as far as I can see, would prohibit the advertising of illegal parties under their prohibition of content aimed at "coordinating harm."
FB has new "Community Standards" (some of them may be old) that include a prohibition on "coordinating harm" under prohibitions on violence and criminal behavior

THis includes a prohibition on "coordinating harm...that promotes activity which is likely to cause harm to....businesses." To me that means people should be prohibited from coordinating illegal Airbnb parties (not permitted by the host) that are likely to cause damage to the premises and/or disruptions to the neighborhood that could cause damage to hosts' business.
What that means is that these people can be banned from posting illegal Airbnb parties on FB.
