2nd missed payout in a row
Genie and George
I have guests that checked in on the 11th that I haven't been paid for, and now guests that checked in on the 12th that I also have not received payment for. To add insult to injury, the total amount I am to be paid this month as reflected on the dashboard has been lowered by those two payments. I called Airbnb and they said it was a problem with my payout method - but then why is the amount deleted from my monthly total? I have guests arriving today, but if I am doing all this work and not getting paid, what is the point?

I just called, was put on hold and dropped after 5 minutes! I'm looking for my payment for a guest who checked in on the 11th for a 17 day stay! What the heck?

I just checked my transaction history and see that my last two payments have been right on time. I even had a transfer yesterday which, for a Sunday, seems somewhat unexpected. I've only been hosting since May, so I've not got the experience to expect a time frame that may have been more consistent in the past. Perhaps Airbnb should change their terms of service so as not to set up expectations that are not realistic for their current operational capabilities. All this talk of late or non-existent payments makes me (and I'm sure many other hosts who are reading about it) nervous about the future of the company.
I'm just offering my experience as a balance to all the concerns.

I've never had them miss a payment but have had probably half a dozen instances where the "24 hours after check in" stretched to 48 hours and once, to 72. Since most of our bookings are weekend stays, it wouldn't have arrived sooner any way due to banking hours (we have direct deposit via wire transfer to a U.S. Bank account).
I think every once in a while AirBnB's rapid international growth catches up with them.

I bank with Wells Fargo and have only had a delay in payment twice in 3 years. each was only one day late.
I wonder if the bank used has an impact? could be airbnb's got some coding bugs that affect certain banks.

Airbnb is aware that there is a problem. If you look at their #airbnbhelp twitter account it is filled with hosts asking what is going on. Airbnb says they are working on it. I think they should send an email to hosts explaining what is going on, but they haven't. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Any electronic payment can me made in any amongst t with little effort. I don't know what the costs are. For small accounts a direct deposit payment costs 50 cents..at airbnbs volume I'm sure its pennies.
Since our 3% dee is to cover this there shouldn't be any need for Airbnb to accumulate payments.
If they have to cut and mail a check that's different.
PayPal has no transaction fees and the business account recipient pays a percentage..so no reason not to do those as needed.

Why are they persisting in saying it's the 'payout method'? It's not. The problem is affecting all hosts in all regions using all payout methods.
I'm surprised that Airbnb hasn't sent out a mass email to all hosts warning them of the payment problems.

Twitter and Facebook are alight with complaints from monumentally pissed off hosts who are awaiting payment. After initially attempting to hang the blame on Paypal, Airbnb are finally admitting to a 'technical issue' (which they're still trying to resolve after at least 4 days), profusely and gushingly thanking everyone for their 'patience and understanding'. Judging by the furious FB posts and Tweets though, 'patience and understanding' are in very short supply amongst those clamouring for their funds to be released. Many threatening to pull their listings or cancel upcoming reservations until they get their money. Massive own-goal for Airbnb. Very badly handled.

When you book as a guest the money is paid to airbnb right away. They then hang on to it was as long as possible. I think all of this is just feet dragging antics on their part. They must be a massively wealthy company by now, so there is no need for them to be greedy. No one likes greed. Payment should be promptly made within the 24 hour period they indicate. Failing to meet those commitments should create penalties for them, in the same way as they penalise hosts for failing to meet their 24 hour agreed commitments. Does that seem fair and reasonable?

The whole 24 hour payment thing applies to business days. Saturday's & Sunday's are not business days. The fact that some recent payments seem to be being processed ( by Airbnb) on weekend days is surprising to me. Even if they do process them, your bank may adhere to the 'business day' rules. I never expect to see payments from Friday or over the weekend until Monday (earliest) a holiday in either entity further complicates this.

For me the issue isn't when the money arrives in the bank--that has a lot of factors that are outside of Airbnb's control. The problem I'm experiencing is that Airbnb is not consistently releasing payments when it says it will. It can initiate at release at any point, and had consistently done so 24 hours after check-in. That's what's changed. Notifications of payment release have been taking longer than 48 hours, and it can be a little worrisome not to have the reassurance that the funds are on their way. For the first year, those happy reminders always came reliably 24 hours after checkin, any day of the week. That hasn't been true this summer. For Airbnb not to communicate a payout glitch to affected hosts proactively is disappointing. Calling in and being told that it's a "known problem" is disheartening and a waste of everyone's time.

The Terms of Service are 24 hours after check-in irrespective of the day of the week. For those of us who receive payments via PayPal are funds should be available any day of the week. Payments can also be slowed by Credit Card Batch processing depending on the time and region the processing center is located . This may slow down how payments are process to Airbnb from CC companies , it depends when the CC companies release payment , it is processed by Airbnb to be dispersed to Hosts
and finally how hosts own bank accounts then handle the deposit . 24 hours has been the standard in retail after end of business and the funds are considered same as cash for deposit .

All I am saying is that when you book a guest, you know you will be receiving x dollars on x day. It's certainly reasonable to expect that much. Now that is not happening. If I work for a company and I expect to be paid on Friday and I am not paid on Friday, it's going to be an issue. Since this recent problem they have updated these terms with this additional info: "It's also possible for a processor to experience technical issues or other extenuating circumstances that could cause your payout to take longer than usual to arrive."

I think part of the concern from hosts like me is that Airbnb previously released payments within 24 hours, including Sat and Sun. Then it fell to each hosts payment recipient (Paypal, bank, etc) for whatever their processing time was. In my situation, my current guest checked in on Sept 11. Up until yesterday, Sept 14, the payment was showing as a Future Transaction. In response to my tweet, Airbnb has now moved it to Paid Transaction but I have not received a payout email confirming that the payment has been submitted to my bank. Even in your 'business day' scenario, Friday's booking should have been RELEASED by Monday.
Airbnb's facebook and twitter is on fire with complaints across the globe about not getting paid. They had finally admitted to technical issues that delayed payments but have not made a global announcement as to when the payments will actually be made.
Airbnb's handling of this situation, as if failure to pay hosts were no big deal, is scandalous. Shame on them.

I would agree with you Q&T, that it looks like its a Global issue . Before , we never had been paid on a Sat or Sun, it was always the first business day of the week, so Monday or Tuesday . Last week I did get paid on a Sat and a Sunday , so I thought that was odd , but that may have something to do with the issue if they changed how everything was processed . Time zones also will affect how everything is processed and transmitted . Its always best to check with your local bank on how they handle it .

Business days are standard business practice . Even your banks will not always cover any transactions until Monday of the following weekend . That being said
your payments might be sent to what ever financial institution and it is they that are not processing the payments into your accounts . If you look at the majority of payment delays , its only by a few days , not weeks or months . It happens
for whatever reason . Payments are not Payroll as you title it , although many people do count on it as a form of income like a paycheck . Holidays ,(federal) ones also delays payments by one or two days .
Airbnb has stated that payments for weekend check ins are paid the following business day .
As I stated before , its not always airbnbs fault , a processor can be delayed in transmitting of payments , or CC company and finally what ever bank you use .
When do I get paid?
Airbnb releases your payout approximately 24 hours after your guest arrives.* Payouts for long-term reservations occur on a monthly basis.
After we release the payout, it takes some additional time for the money to arrive depending on your payment processor. Average processing time per payout method:
ACH / Direct deposit: up to 3 business days
Bank transfer or international wire: 3–7 business days
PayPal: Within a few hours
Western Union: 1 business day (US Pacific Time)
Mailed check: up to 15 business days
Payoneer Prepaid Debit Card: Within a few hours – 1 business day
Many banking systems don't process transactions on weekends or holidays. Therefore, a payout released between Friday and Sunday might not be processed until Monday, and your payout might not be reflected in your account until Wednesday. It's also possible for a processor to experience technical issues or other extenuating circumstances that could cause your payout to take longer than usual to arrive.
You can check on the status of your payouts from the desktop version of Airbnb at any time in your Transaction History.
Payouts subtract the Airbnb service fee from the amount paid by the guest. If you have multiple listings with check-ins on the same day, any payouts going to the same method will be deposited together in one lump sum. Some payout methods, such as Western Union, have a minimum payout amount of $60. If a minimum payout amount is set, your payout will not be released until this amount is met.
*The check-in time is taken from your listing's details, or at 3pm in your time zone if you have no check-in time selected. In the event of a guest cancellation, any payout owed is issued approximately 24 hours after the originally scheduled check-in.

Airbnb have no excuses. They have the money already, so it's not like they are waiting for it before passing it on. If they can impose penalties on hosts for not meeting 24 hour deadlines, then they need to live by those same deadlines themselves. When you set standards for others, make sure you can live by them yourself.

I would agree with you;T, that it looks like its a Global issue .

Just received payout email for Sept 11 check-in. I see on Facebook that they're now saying all delayed payments will be processed and released by Wednesday afternoon.
