A number of North African guests are finding their reservations cancelled once the host learns their African sounding surname. THere are plans to take some of these cases to court in France.
“The main perpetrator remains the owner, but if Airbnb is found to have been aware of these discriminatory practices and done nothing about it, they are complicit."
The world-famous holiday rentals site has already responded to France Inter’s investigation by saying it worked to raise awareness of discrimination and had never before faced any legal troubles over similar issues.
How would Airbnb have been aware of what happened in these instances, unless guests contacted them and told them?
