Maui city leaders passed a rule to require property owners to have to wait 5 years after buying a property, before being allowed to do vacation rentals in it:

Council members hoped the bill would discourage people from buying homes and immediately turning them into vacation rentals. All except Council Member Guzman voted for the measure.
