Lol, Deborah, that’s an American speciality, to shoot people at home. It’s not done elsewhere. ;-) I did not read your article (on phone data this morning), but elsewhere in the world, if there is a bunch of drunk people not Doing bodily harm to others, you don’t shoot them and if there are needles involved, you don’t fight them barehanded either. They will sober up eventually and may pay the damages for years to come, payback to insurance, and nobody gets shot. Imagine: if it happens in your house, would you prefer orange juice on your wall and broken furniture or blood, bullet holes and the memory of dead bodies before your couch table?

Which would I prefer, the orange juice or bodies....good question.
Well it depends. If the damage is not too extensive, I will take the orange juice. But if it's a situation like with those poor homeowners whose Airbnb guests did $150k in damage to their home, I will take the bodies. Actually the police will take the bodies. I tend to be a touchy-feely person in most things but when it comes to massive vandalism I wont' be mourning the loss of such young people who interfere with law enforcement trying to stop them.
Overall though I have to agree, it's better when police don't start off shooting. We've had a number of horrible situations in this country, where police went to a house to investigate something after receiving a report, and ended up at the wrong house or wrong address and ended up shooting dead the residents there, who may not have been completely passive and compliant when they heard people breaking into their home.
