CC I just edited this post and added screenshots of all the pages the guest fills out when they go a review. So much more than hosts have to do for a review! It's a regular PhD thesis of a review! Given how long it is, I'm surprised as many guests bother to fill them out as we have seen.
Interesting to note -- Airbnb seems to be encouraging guests to say negative things about the host by stating that the host wont' see what you write until they do their review of you.

I've been wanting to fake a stay just to find this very info out, Deborah! Very helpful! Here's the survey my craigslisters fill out upon leaving:

Well, That certainly has changed since my last stay when I did do screen shots of the guests review questions.
Deborah, if you still have this page available, take it one more step.
Last May, When I hovered my cursor over the actual stars on the over all rating it was:
1 = Terrible 2 = Not Great 3 = Average 4 = Great 5 = Fantastic
You could probably hear my grumbles across that big ocean complaining and ranting to airbnb that I wouldn't even rate my own home as Fantastic, and how totally ludicrous they had changed the scoring system since in 5 months since my last stay at an airbnb.
I took it the step further explaining that I do not believe for one second that when the boys began this venture, not able to pay their rent, hotels filled up, and they rented out a couch.
Ya think any of their guests reviewed their couch as "Fantastic?"
They were supposed to bump this up to a higher level, as everyone I spoke with at Airbnb agreed the usage of the term Fantastic was not suitable for the services we provide at the rates we charge.
Of course they never got back to me with the results.
I do have the screen shots of the questions from last May.
Someone has been busy changing it all around once again.

Ya think any of their guests reviewed their couch as "Fantastic?" Exactly. The Three Millennials are expecting all current Airbnb hosts to do more than it's likely that they did....

Hm... I wonder why Airbnb is making guests feel as if hosts are their enemies??

Aloha Lambada,
It is my belief that all of this is for their 'filter' idea.
Mr Customer Service told me to check mark all my filters during my un logged in snooping about. Private Room, SuperHost, POOL......well then of course three listings came up first.
This is also what other platforms use for searches, as well as highlighting key words that other guests have used in their reviews, which airbnb had also adopted.
I just about did a spit take at your question why is Airbnb making guests feel like the hosts are the enemies.
Haven't we experienced enough silly resolution decisions already that made us feel like the enemy to airbnb already?
I have used the argument with them that if it wasn't for us hosts, they wouldn't have a business. Perhaps that's why they are fast and furious with their own diversification projects.
I have no clue how any research could be done, but they seem to side with the guests rather than the hosts.
I've had many guests tell me of their experiences of dissatisfaction with an airbnb accommodation, and airbnb just put them up in a fancy pants hotel; so of course the guests are the main target to buy into this merry go round game of a thrill a minute.
Have a look at Airbnb FB page, they post all kinds of guests complaints and their response of how happy they were to help them out by refunding their $, re housing them, etc., and of course the guests then come back with First I hated you cause I didn't get my own way; Now I love Airbnb cause I got way better than the 1/2 buck I originally paid for accommodations.
I just had to kiss ass and a half for some guests in the loft who admitted they did not read the listing and can't find the door.
They just finished the PCT and came here to recuperate.
Let's see, ya just finished 5 months of a most grueling hike, packing your own tent, and now you're worried about a door?
It's a Private Room Loft Suite, not a NYC 5 million dollar Loft Apartment.
Luckily, I convinced her my listing clearly states the facts, the pictures are totally accurate, and we all are on opposite sides of the house. Plus she's got a TV to drown out any noises if she feels the need to make that necessary.
I picked her some (more) fresh flowers, basil, offered her use my olive oil and balsamic vinegar; other german speaking guests have arrived, she's in 7th heaven now; but I was sure she was going to whine to cancel.
I'm clueless too why Airbnb is forgetting the hosts. I believe in transparency, and frequently referred to the reviews on Tripadvisor for years; but this is getting ridiculous, add the fact that Airbnb's suggested prices are usually 1/3 of our rates, and their new idea of 'transparency' includes withholding any information about our guests until we've accepted their reservation.
It seems like many companies who grow too large too quick, are working very hard at sinking their own ship instead of continuing on with what was successful ideas in the beginning.
Good thing I'm an excellent swimmer. I won't be going down with this ship. They are training us hosts well that we have to become self-sufficient and look out for #1 instead of relying on them as #1, like most of us did in our beginning days of transient hosting.
Just saying......
I'm still miffed that 5 stars equaled Fantastic.
I wish Deborah could find out if they've left it that way for the Overall Experience rating.
If so, then my guests are macadamia nuttier than I am.
OK, I take it back, I've got better things to wish for. LOL.

Deborah,
I'm sure you've heard the story; but I found the story being told on YouBoob at the November 2014 Airbnb Open which was why I was so convinced that this was the company I wanted to be a part of.
Actually, I don't even think it was even a couch, it was an Airbed they rented out in their living room.
I have yet to see a Fantastic Airbed, but I'm sure you can find a delightful picture of one to share with us.

Well actually yes...an airbed can be nearly as nice looking as any bed...since it's just a different type of mattress. THe main drawback of the airbed would be its placement -- it's being used as an "extra" bed in a space that doesn't normally have a bed. But a bed in a living room can look nice given the right elements. Here's an airbed set up in someone's living room ---
