My patience is running out...and the mice are running in...
We currently are hosting our 9th guest since we started. No other guests have had issues and so far we have received all 5 star reviews. Im not so much worried about the review. Our issue is mice. Seen by the guests everywhere but not by us at all (or any previous guests). No other signs such as mice droppings or evidence of eating anything. We have had pest control out and have builders filling a small gap under the skirting boards in the main bedroom. We moved the guest into our spare room so they sleep in there (no mice) and keep their luggage in the main room. They are constantly in the living areas as well. We feel like our house has been taken over! They have left the house for one day is two weeks so far. Another week to go and Im claustrophobicly stuck in our room which is full of all our belongings from our spare room as well. I've offered a 2 night refund and the guests seem happy to stay. They have made our house theirs and have even invited people over without asking.
I do shift work and am constantly being woken up at all hours.
More of a venting post but I'm really at my wits end!
Deborah:
Kate, it sounds to me like your issue is not just mice, but MICE WITH POWER!
Look what those mice have done, they've rearranged your whole house!
Isn't it amazing what such tiny beings can do sometimes?
Joking aside, though, this sounds difficult.
Are you sure there really are mice in the house? What evidence do the guests present? ARe they hearing them?
I think mice can be terribly difficult because they can get into such tiny holes. I am dealing with that issue too though perhaps on a smaller scale. I have a few mice -- I"ve put out traps, but the darned mice eat the peanut butter right off the traps and dont' set the traps off, so it's useless.
If pest control can't help I am not sure what more can be done. Can you yourself move into the room that supposedly has the mice? The guests get the nicer room and you get the micey one?
Kay:
Mice with power really made me laugh. I have suggested we move in there (it is the master bedroom). We just have so much stuff packed into our little room (we are packing for a 6 week overseas trip and also hosting a party so there is all that "stuff" too) so it will be a job but I think we are going to have to do it! The guests have no evidence just keep mentioning that they are seeing them. At first we took it so seriously my partner left work to deal with it now we are starting to have our doubts!
