High school students

I so not feel comfortable renting my house to high school students at grad time.
Ao I basically told the young student with more money than I ever had at that age.
So do I hope that she just looks somewhere else? In other words, how do I get her to go away so I don't have to decline her.
She has no reviews. I had to ask her to post a pic.

I would decline just to clear the decks.
You can send her to a hotel with a pool in your area or something more apropos.

Thank you Jeannette.
I have been trying to find a place where I can input a minimum age requirement.

She has not responded to my last email explaining that a high school teacher and
I expect her "get together" in my house will turn into a grad party.
Must I accept or decline. Or can I just hope she will choose a more suitable venue. I suggested some.

If she sent an inquiry, you don't need to do anything else. If it was a reservation request, you must accept or decline within 24 hours. It is a legit decline. Airbnb has an 18 year old minimum age already.

The initial email from airbnb called it a "booking inquiry" that I must accept or decline within 24 hours. So is a "booking inquiry" a reservation request" or just an inquiry. Not worried about her anymore because she understood that i was not having a grad bash at my house. I guess I will have to email airbnb again on this one. Honestly. Grrrr

As Bridget and Mark state, people cannot use Airbnb, either as guests or to set themselves up as hosts, unless they are at least 18 years old. So most high school students cannot use Airbnb.

I will decline her request for a reservation. However Airbnb has accepted her verification and so she must be 19 or it is a hiccup on Airbnb'a part for accepting verification from a teen ager. And I just made sure the verification requirement box was checked so I would not get dubious inquiries.

As far as I am aware, Airbnb does not ask anyone's age when they sign up with an account. There have been posts on the forums of 17 year olds with Airbnb accounts who were contacting hosts trying to find a place for their party. So, you can't assume that just because someone has an account and is verified, that they are 18 or older.

I have " we do not host under 24 yr olds " in our house rules. That stops the frat issue but I do write waivers

Great. I wasn't sure if I could say that. But it makes sense. Thank you

I'm a 24 year old hosting my own airbnb, and have found that a 40 year old woman was far more work than I expected a 20-something year old to be.

I have hosted late teens looking at colleges in my area and it has gone well. However, single person with focussed visit. I would decline this inquiry ASAP before it evolves into a reservation request.
