Hello Deborah, Andrew and the rest of NH Forum.
Again, and for second time we stayed at an AirBnB. This was the last (hopefully) trip to NJ to do some banking and legal papers. Again we encountered discomfort at our stay.
Please, I need your help in wording the Review.
The Host, fairly new has a beautiful home, just finished/built this year, which she emphasized as 'luxurious and new' in description. We chose it as it was 1/2 mile of a former house we used to own, and familiar area to us.
Pros: Nice and pleasant Host. She helped me with my luggage upstairs.
Neutral: Nobody mentioned in the previous 4 reviews that the beautiful new home is EMPTY. Only one bar stool in the kitchen. L/F, D/R, even new large deck nothing, nada, no place to sit down. It seems she is living in the basement. Bedroom picture depicts large bed, dresser and night table. There was only a queen size bed in the bedroom.
Negative: Only a bed in the bedroom. No lamp, table, dresser no place to hang up your clothes. Walk-in closet is not finished, no shelving or racks or hangers, just a square empty room. We had to put our jackets and clothes on the floor or on top of our luggage.
SuperNegative: It was not crazy hot, but very humid. We selected the house as A/C was one of the features. It was the first in over 20 years I could not sleep at all, and I mean at all. Our PJ's were drenched in sweat (sorry for being graphic) and we had to change pj's around 2 a.m. What bothered me was that once we were in the bedroom, the Host mentioned that A/C was not working (in a new house) and she had a pedestal fan for us. I asked my husband to leave and go to a hotel, but he refused saying it was too late and not wanting to hurt the Host's feelings. Next day, we were like zombies, and I couldn't drive the next 6 hours as was sleepy.
Note: I mentioned to the Host, in a friendly way, that No utilities (i.e. water, electricity, heat or A/C, if offered, repeat, if offered) could be grounds for cancelling the Reservation by AirBnB, as place is not what was described or offered. Did not mention the lack of furniture, and misleading bedroom furniture picture. Too tired to go on and on.
Please help me with a Review. I want to be fair and warn future Hosts (it is a hot Summer already here). My husband did not believe the A/C was not working as the house is new and she was just trying to save money. I want to give her the benefit of the doubt, but 100% polyester sheets and a hot humid night? Come on! ;-)
Thanks!
