Central Heating times
Hi Looking forward to landing my first booking so spending sometime thinking ahead. How do you manage your Central Heating/Hot Water timer with guests? our CH comes on at 7 am and goes off at 10 am then back on at 4 pm and off at 11 pm. The HW is on 24/7 so constantly available. Would you do anything different with guests staying. Our room for rent is located at the top of the house on a 3 floor house and it's pretty cosy up there. Thks for reading. Sandra

Are you at home during the day? It seems to me that your heating is on for quite a long time so as long as it's not bitterly cold it should be fine. It's is on betwen 6 and 7.30 in the morning, a couple of half hours during the day and then from 6 to 10 in the evenings. At the moment that's fine. I work from home so vi can turn it on for extra time if I need to. We are trying to hit a balance been being warm and reducing our carbon footprints!

I am working from home but in and out throughout the day but would hate guests to feel cold but certainly don't want heating on all day long. I think up to 8 am would be enough - the room is at the top of the house so very warm and cosy. Then on again from 6 -10 pm. Thks for sharing your info appreciated.

I have mine on for a couple of hours in the morning, and then in the evening. Our guests are almost always out during most of the day so it seems to work out fine. At this time of year I'll mention to guests to let me know if they're not warm enough, and provide a little plug in heater in their room. You could always have the heating on for longer but at a lower temperature so that it never drops and becomes too cold - apparently that is cheaper then trying to crank it up high in short bursts.
