Guest stained the sheets -- should I mention it in the review?
I had a guest that left the sheets soooo dirty, they had a purple stain on the bottom sheet, pillow cases and decorative pillows. I soaked them and with a lot of washing got it out. My problem is I don't know if I should mention this in the review. I think it wasn't normal were and tear, He used something on his body and just didn't care. He also stayed in the room all week long with the air conditioning on even if it wasn't hot (venting here). He originally said he wasn't going to stay in the room all day. But he never left.

I would mention it.

I had a similar experience, except it was just the pillow case. Guest left black streaks all over it. I mentioned it in the private review. I said something like "You must have noticed the black stains on the pillowcase. I had a lot of trouble trying to get it clean. I would prefer you had said something to me about it. I am just mentioning this because future hosts will not be pleased about this sort of thing". I didn't mention it in the public review, because this lady was otherwise very nice. She sent me a reply saying she was very sorry, and had in fact intended to wash the pillowcase herself but was not allowed to do laundry. (No, she was not, because she wanted to do it at 11 PM which is not possible.) She even offered to send me some new pillowcases. So, Ale, I would only mention it in the private review.

I had a guest leave small, bright red stains on the quilted bedspread and matching sham. I mentioned it to him in my private review comments, and he said he asked his wife and she said it was "from an Advil." The good thing was that he had acknowledged the stain, and when I couldn't get the stain out (and put a claim in through the Resolution Center) Airbnb backed me up -- no problem. I'm pretty sure the stains were from a Sharpie, bright red and permanent! So it's worth mentioning, for sure.

Given the degree of staining , and the degree of extra work you had to do, I would mention something about this in the review -- but I would mention it in a way that does not need to get into details about what the stains were or how they were caused.
Was the fact that he never left inconvenient for you in any way, ....would it have made him into a type of guest you would not have accepted if you had known he would never leave? I ask this because if a guest tells you something about their plans that causes you to accept them, and then turns out to have misrepresented themselves, and you would not have accepted them had they been honest, that is an important point to bring up in a review.
You could say for instance, "George was a polite, friendly person and followed house rules during his stay. He could have been clearer in communicating his plans to me. I had to do more than the usual amount of cleaning of his room after his departure. "

Yeah--see--like that. (Don't say, as did one host: "Don't worry--I got all that blood outta the sheets. Jeez, hope it wasn't anything serious."

Thanks Deborah and CC, I used some of your words in Spanish

Great, Ale! Haha!

The fact that he stayed in his room all the time doesn't inconvenience me, its just so unusual to say you are coming it do something and do nothing ... I want my guests to have fun but I guess everybody is different.
Thank you for your collective wisdom. CC, Juliet and Ed, Ann, Nathalie Et Claude and Deborah. Its so nice not to be alone in this and get great ideas.
