Problem: No review.
I know this has been dealt with before (about 13 days ago, but I can no longer find it). The solution seemed to be to politely ask the person to submit a review. One member of this group (I think it was "John and Colleen") even told us what she writes . My question to you guys is, does it sound too pushy to explain WHY I want their review, that because of the way Airbnb works, the more reviews I have, the higher up the list I become in my city? Thanks! (BTW, I just KNOW that the lady who hasn't reviewed us yet, after 10 days, had a good time here because she kept saying so.)

Some people are quick, some are fast. In my info sheet, which I leave for the guests also asks for them to leave a review as I mention I always leave a review for my guests too

I just had a guest leave me a review (very positive) after 29 days. I think a lot of people forget, get busy, etc. I'm assuming Airbnb sends out reminders to guests and hosts alike about reviewing.

The best way to get a review is to write a review to them!! But I do not think that it is too pushy to ask.

I dont think so this works. To be reviewed doesnt seem to be so important to guest as like to hosts. Basically host can get more negative points than guest.

Well, its not like all guest write a review. I would estimete about 1/4. If youll ask them to write a review, you will surelly get more, but not 100%. So you should find other ways, how to got more guests to your place on the beggining.

I have had 100% of my guests leave reviews (all positive) with no prompting on my part. I guess I just have had excellent guests!

Yes, most guests only used Airbnb once when they needed it. After that, they barely use it if there's no any travel plans ahead. When I first started hosting, I would wrote this to my guest TO their email address (they will not check Airbnb inbox because like I said, they no longer need it after their travel)
Dear _______,
How are you guys? I hope everything is fine with you. I left you a review on Airbnb and I hope you can left a review regarding your stays in my apartment too. It would means a lot to me and I'll greatly appreciated if you could do that before the expiration date. If you decided not to leave a review, please let me know the reason so that I can improve the work. Thank you. I hope you guys have a wonderful week ahead!
Cheers,
I hope this help. Happy hosting.

Just to let you know there were a few spelling errors above (if this is the one you use). Also, I think instead of "expiration" date, I might say "before the last day to post a review--which is coming up soon." The rest of your letter is great! Thanks for sharing!

You're welcome. I'm pretty sure you received requests from guests all over the world and you won't tell them that they have spelling or grammar errors. (chuckles)

I just wanted you (and others to know) if they cut and paste that there needed to be a couple corrections...I don't mind if people edit my stuff at all! (it saves in the long run) --I wish there were an "edit" button with these postings..I make mistakes all the time.

There should be a "search" box on the top to the right. Put in the word "reviews" then every message with the word review will be highlighted. I find the less words you use in the search, the better, but it can be more than one word ! hope you find what you were looking for!

Thanks to all for your helpful comments! I liked Rév's suggestion of sending the email to the person's email address instead of thru Airbnb. I am definitely going to ask this lady for a review, I really went the extra mile for her (even took her to my Yoga class, and a flower-arranging class, at no cost to her). I just want to be sure I word it in the best possible way.

Juliet, I do the same thing Rev does, I follow up about a week after their check out date. I tell them that their feedback is valuable to me (and invite them to leave private feedback as well as a public review) as well as prospective guests. I also add that airbnb heavily weighs the number of reviews received when ranking properties, and being on the first page of search results helps the continued success of my business.

Julie, I love how you put that! I am making a template letter which will include some of Rev's wording and some of yours. I was about to start doing that this morning, when the guest finally sent a review (2 weeks after the fact) so in a way I'm glad I didn't email her yet. Next time this happens I think I'll wait 3 weeks, so that I can rightfully say that I need the feedback before the expiration date. (which is , I think, 29 days or is it 30. )

Glad to help! Reviews are especially important to me because this is my full-time business, so if I don't have guests, I have no $$ coming in. And - I do a lot of extended stays (2 of my 3 properties currently have extended stays guests), so I might have a chance to get 1 review every 4-6 weeks as opposed to every 4-6 days. So every review I get helps!
