I left a review and now have a really angry guest
Hi everyone,
I had a guest recently who left piles of garbage all over my bathroom, had my a/c on at 72 with the windows and doors open - it turns out it was like that for 3 days he later told me - left my lights on and basically disrespected my apartment. Thankfully I came home earlier than expected. I fired off a review saying that while he was amicable I was concerned about the lack of attention to the a/c being left on - and my subsequent electricity bill - as well as the pile of trash. He has since not stopped messaging me with his angry rants that he has done nothing to deserve it.
I understand reviews are on their profile but was urged by other Airbnb friends to post an honest review so they would know who they are renting to.
My questions are 1) How do you handle reviews for a bad guest experience and 2) how do I delete this guy do that he stops sending me messages? He stops short of threats but is going a bit crazy.
I'm a fairly new host so am a bit weirded out that he also knows where I live.
My apologies for the long post.
- Jackie

I agree with Anastasia, call Airbnb now, and flag all of the correspondence between the two of you. I read your review, and it was balanced and factual. sHe should be apologizing instead of harassing you. You did the right thing to call him out on disrespectful behavior and tough s**t if he doesn't like it. I think these kind of guests are worse with new hosts. Check out CC's listing for a good dose of house rules. She's in Memphis.

Contact airbnb. He should not be contacting you.
As for your review, as a host I thank you! I know I shouldn't be surprised after reading these forums, but I am still shocked by how badly guests behave then leave a great review and expect the host to do the same.

What was your guests's review of you like? I had a bad guest try to extort a free weekend out of me in exchange for not writing a bad review. I refused to give in and he wrote his review and I wrote mine... Mine was worse, in the end, though he hit me with a very low star rating and complained about his stay and said it wasn't worth the money. I was able to respond to his review, but he couldn't respond to mine. I never heard from him again afterwards, but I think he thought he held all the cards because he could give me a poor review, not realizing i was entitled to review him too and I was honest about the experience which did him no favors. It's a fine line but I think you just have to be honest for the sake of future hosts who might get caught by the guest down the line.

I saw your guest's review of you, and I read yours of him. I thought you were very restrained and think he's over-reacting.
