My husband and I have 3 Oregon beach rentals, which I have listed with Airbnb since 2009. When Portland legalized and starting permitting STRs in the City, we began renting out a studio on our property. We list through VRBO/Homeaway, Flipkey/TripAdvisor as well as use our own website to take reservations. I have enjoyed watching Airbnb grow and give the Big Guys competition, and my favorite thing about Airbnb is the review system. I love being able to leave reviews for guests as well as being reviewed. It sort of feels like it's leveling the field a bit.
I moderate our Airbnb online Portland Host Group, which will become defunct soon. I'm hoping that many of the members will migrate to this site. In addition, my husband and I have organized a local meetup group, which is just shy of 100 members, and we hold face-to-face meetings with other Airbnb hosts in the area. We are called Home Share PDX, our requirement is that you have an active Airbnb listing and our meetings are incredibly energetic and fun. Hubby and I attended the last two Airbnb Opens, and as you can imagine, we've come home from Paris with some incredible memories.
