Ring Doorbell paid for itself in one day!
The security camera doorbell I bought has paid for itself in just one day. Had two reservations that misquoted guest count. Guest rang the bell today, which rang my iphone with a video of them at the door. They forgot the door code (even though I tell people to PRINT the damn thing out). I talked to them through the doorbell, "Hi, I see you have four guests there and the reservation is for three." They responded the guy who made the reservation is on his way. "OK, I am going to alter the reservation for 5 guests" an extra $90. Then 10 minutes later he messages me and sheepishly asks for 2 more guests, so 7 total (and my max). So an extra $180 extra for me and he just paid for this camera! Thank you. A few days before that same thing happened and I got $70 extra.
I bet this happens a lot on whole house rentals that you are not there to see. People just suck. I told them if they break another house rule they will be asked to leave.

A doorbell that provides extra income --- very nice!
Sounds like it might be a good idea to NOT give the guest the door code, but tell them to ring you when they arrive. Then you first count how many people are there (and whether guest who booked is among them) before you provide them the door code!

thought about that Deborah, but what if I have no service on my phone when they ring, or there's a power outage? I know, 90% of time it would be fine but hate to have guests waiting at the door and me not answering!

Bravo Douglas. Well done.
The advantage of small Parisian appartments is that extra people can only sleep on the floor.
Oak flooring are nice but quite uncomfortable to sleep on...
