I just sent this rushed and badly worded message to guests of mine renting a whole house.
Hi Charlotte, I stopped by this morning with some cakes for your family, and I had a brief but troubling conversation with your father. Of course my French is terrible and his English is not great, so I'm not sure that I understood everything.
He tells me that last night there was fire engines called to the house because a neighbor called for fire in the backyard. I think that I understand that it was a firework for your mothers birthday. This is a very big issue, as fireworks are completely illegal to possess and set off in New Jersey. While it seems an innocent situation, it means that I can potentially be charged personally, as it happened on my property, and that the cost of a false alarm can be levied to me. This is not the only issue, as I also am concerned for my neighbors, as I'm sure it was worriesome to them. It's done now, but it's super important that I be called immediately to let me know what is going on. This was a real emergency that warrants an actual call, and thankfully there was no harm to any of you, and secondaraly no harm to the property. But I will have repercussions with the city, so if you can please let me know exactly what happened, then I can be prepared.
Thank you Charlotte.

This last week has been the worst in over six years of hosting, and thousands of guests. I'm not sure if it's just the natural progression of Airbnb geting wider coverage, if it's me not screening well enough, or not reading guests the riot act (nicely) during orientation, but we've had crazy people lately.
THis group, a very nice family of five from France, is just the icing on the cake. Imagine setting off fireworks in the back yard!!! and where in the world did they get fireworks? I'm so puzzled by this, and am waiting a reply back from my guest.
The other problems this week have just been super messy people not taking out trash (11 full bags from one house), not locking doors, peeing the bed, spilling coffee on the comforter, etc. Normally families are much better, as there is usually one person (often the mother) who naturally organizes everyone and orders the apartment before checkout, but everyone must be in holiday mode and have left their common sense behind.
